Lady Moc Softball Blue-Gold Game Is Saturday
posted October 10, 2008

After over a month of conducting workouts, the Chattanooga softball team will hold its eighth annual Blue-Gold game on Saturday at Jim Frost Stadium.

The game will begin around 11:15 a.m. with a ring presentation scheduled to be held prior to the game at 11 a.m. The presentation will celebrate the 2008 Southern Conference Championship team.

“We are really excited,” Head Coach Frank Reed said. “The girls are really anticipating being able to get onto the field and play. We’ve split the group up into teams so there is some playful trash talking going on right now, so it should be fun.”

The game will pit the Blue team, which will be led by Assistant Coach Brad Irwin, and the Gold team, coached by Volunteer Assistant Coach Jeff Martin.

The contest will differ from a regulation game in that the pitching will be handled for both teams by a total of three players. The game will also feature four players from last season’s team that are not on the 2009 roster.

The game is scheduled to last until 1 p.m. and will be followed by a BBQ, provided by the RBI Club.

The first 50 fans in attendance to the game will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of the Chattanooga Athletics Department, while the first 25 fans will be able to sign up for a chance to win the opportunity to watch a 2009 game from one of Frost Stadium’s press boxes, with food provided.
