East Ridge Rolls Past Notre Dame With 2nd-Half Surge
posted October 10, 2008

The East Ridge Pioneers capitalized on four straight Notre Dame turnovers to pull away in the second half for a 27-3 road victory.

The Irish connected with a field goal just before halftime, and the game was still close at 7-3 until Dominque King picked off two passes for the Pioneers.

East Ridge quarterback Adam Long had hit Austin Rhoden in stride for a 45-yard TD late in the first quarter. The drive went five plays for 93 yards.

The first East Ridge score in the second half came on a 36-yard run by Donnie Garner around left end on a delayed draw.

The score moved to 21-3 after the Pioneers again drove down the field following a turnover. A key play was a long run by Gunter Miller that ended as he crashed into the Notre Dame tackler.

A late East Ridge score and a missed extra point made the final tally 27-3.

East Ridge had 274 yards of total offense.
