Barney Crum Lawson, 79, of Ooltewah, Tn., died on Friday, October 10, 2008.
He was born May 28, 1929 to the late Tom and Katie Crum Lawson and was preceded in death by his grandmother, "Mama" Bessie Crum Keys.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Barney retired from Combustion Engineering after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Ooltewah Lodge #741, Alhambra Shriners, and a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Ann Lawson, two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny (Donna) Lawson, Kevin (Lori) Lawson, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy (David) Barfield, Kelly (Jay) Williams, five grandsons, Kasey, Kyle, Trey, Drew, Zack, three granddaughters, Randi, Kaitlin, Summer, two great-grandsons, Ellis and Ryder, wonderful mother-in-law, Frances "Mama" Jordan, sister and brother-in-law, Wenonah (Tressley) Geren, and nephew, Scott Niles.
He was the greatest husband, daddy and poppa in the whole wide world. And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Ooltewah Cemetery with Rev. Spencer Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6–8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
