Lady Mocs Get Top Guard From Oliver Springs
posted October 13, 2008

Kayla Christopher, a highly recruited guard from Class A Oliver Springs, committed on Sunday to Coach Wes Moore and the UTC Mocs, the Knoxville News-Sentinel reported.

The 5'9" Christopher had been recruited by Kentucky, Louisville, MTSU and others.

She told the newspaper she wanted to stay closer to home rather than opt for a bigger school.

She also said she was impressed by Coach Moore, and she said she might not have gotten as much playing time had she chosen MTSU.

Christopher was a Class A Miss Basketball finalist last season.

She averaged 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3 assists per game.

She has led Oliver Springs to the state tournament for the last three seasons, including runner-up in 2007.
