It's the cat's meow at the McKamey Animal Center as Art Cats, four bronze sculptures by Elizabeth Rogers Decosimo, will be installed and dedicated at the Center on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m.
Donated by the Public Arts Committee, the cats were featured for a year on the First Street Steps as part of the 21st Century Waterfront. The cats were purchased by the Public Art Committee and donated to the new McKamey Animal Center. The ceremony will take place at the Center, located at 4500 N. Access Road in Chattanooga.
"We are pleased that the Public Arts Committee is making the donation of these gorgeous cats to the Center. We want McKamey to be a destination point for the entire community and a place to enjoy walking trails, herb gardens and a variety of artwork as well as the place for adopting their next four-legged family member," says Dr. Amanda Wojtalik-Courter, Executive Director for the McKamey Animal Center.
"It's fitting that these bronze beauties should find a new home on October 16 since it's designated as Feral Cat Day with various celebrations taking place throughout the nation," says Dr. Wojtalik-Courter.
