Police Blotter: Neighbors Agree To Give Basketball Back

Police had to intervene when a couple on Dana Lane declined to return a basketball that bounced into their yard.

Gina Gionella called police for help in retrieving the basketball.

Several other adults complained to the officer about the neighbors who kept the ball.

The officer advised that the basketball goal be moved away from that side of the yard. This was done.

He also was able to secure the release of the ball and its return to the kids.

At the Dollar Store on E. 23rd Street, two youths did $500 worth of damage while stealing $20 worth of ice cream and candy.

Police found where a front window had been knocked out with a large rock.

A video showed two young black males knocking out the window, then getting the ice cream and candy. They then exited back through the broken window.

A clerk at a store on Highway 153 said a large black male has been coming in the store trying to get her to give him free gas and free cigarettes.

She said it is "beginning to freak me out."

Police advised her to give them a call the next time it happens.

Heather Trailer of Standifer Gap Road told police a man she just met at a bar and gave her phone number to was calling her.

The officer advised her: If you don't want him calling, just tell him so.
