1 Victim Dies And Another Critical: Hospital Was Under Lockdown Temporarily

Three people were shot on Southern Street on Tuesday morning, and one of the victims died early in the afternoon, Chattanooga Police said.
After the victims were taken to Erlanger Hospital, police said a large crowd of relatives and friends of the victims gathered at the hospital and a fight broke out.
Numerous police officers were called to quell the disturbance, and the hospital was placed under lockdown. The hospital lockdown started at 2:21 p.m. and ended at 2:51 p.m.
By 4:30 p.m., Erlanger officials said, "Erlanger continues to accept patients at the Erlanger Baroness Campus. However, officials are taking extra security measures, in cooperation with local city and county law enforcement.
Police said LaFredrick Collier, 34, died around 1 p.m. after being taken to Erlanger.
The shootout happened at 1909 Southern.
Police said they arrived to find Collier and 21-year-old Terrance Walker lying in the yard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said, "Stories are conflicting. However, detectives do know all three subjects had guns and all three fired shots. Police were told that Tommy Young, 32, and Collier were in the yard when Walker pulled up and an argument began. Shots were fired and Collier and Walker went down. Young then got in his vehicle and fled the scene."
Police were later called to an address on Conner Street off Germantown Road in Brainerd and found Young there suffering from gunshot wounds to his neck and arm. Young was transported to Erlanger, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was later placed under arrest for criminal homicide and attempted murder.
Walker has undergone surgery and is in critical condition. He will also be charged with criminal homicide and attempted murder.
This the city's 19th homicide for the year.
