Democrats Are Trying To Steal The Election - And Response (4) posted October 14, 2008 Democrats are trying to steal this election. I am not sure if it is payback for what they "perceive" happened in 2000, but they are trying to steal this one and unashamedly. When you look at groups like ACORN that are biased, pro-Obama community action groups that are committing voter fraud just to win an election it is appalling. Can't the Democrats win with ideas? Do they have to resort to cheating to win? I thought Obama was some kind of political Messiah and everyone would flock to have him as President. Why do these pro-Democratic groups want to register people 27 times or register the Dallas Cowboys in Ohio by name or Mickey Mouse or some such? Does Obama have to cheat his way into the White House? Now before all you nut jobs start responding off topic we are talking about this election, these candidates and groups like ACORN doing this today. I am not talking about last year, last decade or last century. The past is the past and we are staying on topic. So focus now. Cheaters never prosper. Johnny Franks seechatt@yahoo.com * * * In response to Democrats Trying to Steal the Election and Democrats are Camping Out I am appalled at the implications in both of these articles. The Republicans have no room to complain about the election. GW stole the last two and look where that got us. Republicans want to forget the past when it suits them but we must remember how this country got into the shape it is in. Obama is a level-headed, low key man with intelligence that few in the Republican Party seem to enjoy. I appreciate that McCain is a veteran and served in Vietnam, however, there are many of those in this country but none boast and proclaim to be a "maverick" that can run this country. Anyone who served in the military is a hero in my opinion. McCain is short tempered and his "maverick" status scares many of us. His running mate is ill-equipped to run this country. She seems to be unable to oversee her own family and enforce her beliefs on them. What makes her think she can run this country? That is even scarier. She needs to go back to her small Alaskan town and take care of her family. Let's find a woman with some experience to be on the ticket next time. McCain's ploy did not help him at all. ACORN is an independent group and unfortunately seems to have muddied the waters with their registration tactics but that does not undermine the fact that our best choice and best chance for this country is to elect Obama. Those that are camping out are, for the first time, excited about this election. The Republicans seem to be afraid that the people who they have disenfranchised are going to vote and the people are going to take back the White House. Sue Coulliette Chattanooga * * * How can the Democrats steal this election? ACORN has some problems, but if they were to sign up anyone, they do not know how they will vote in the election. They could vote either way. The Republicans could have brought on this dilemma for ACORN. They could have gotten a copy of the voter registration, made thousands of copies, filled them out with names like the Dallas Cowboys or Mickey Mouse and took them in to the ACORN headquarters. This would have been very easy to do. Can you imagine anyone going to the polls and when asked who you are, say "Mickey Mouse"? You would be laughed out of the place or they would ask where is Minnie or Pluto, when are they voting? Get real, Republicans, you just don't want change, you want more of the same. I'm sure 99% of you in the Chattanooga area could use lower taxes if you make less that $250,000, which I am sure most of you fall into this category. Wouldn't this help your budget? Do all of you like what has happened in Washington in the last eight years. You must - you are doing all the whining. Gary Dixon South Pittsburg * * * I seem to remember that Barack helped train ACORN leadership for almost 10 years from 1993 to 2003. Offering all those years of community group experience I guess. It seems the acorn does not fall far from the tree. Cliff Sarbel * * * Seriously? Republicans are complaining about voter fraud? Really? Ha! That is just laughable. They really must have no shame. These same people who witnessed the massive amount of fraud conducted during the last two elections are going to point to a few thousand cases of non-existent registrants and call that deplorable? In '04 and 2000, there were hundreds of thousands of people who existed and were cheated out of their right to vote by being either scrubbed from the rolls, having their ballets thrown in a dumpster or having them switched by a computer when they confidently made their preference, or told that they would be arrested for misdemeanor crimes or beat up or worse if they show up at the polls. Which is worse? a few thousand extra registrants, that may not even become voter fraud if vigilant election officials work hard to check names carefully, or disenfranchising actual voters who are trying to express their right to vote? Republicans don't ever mention this, but they know that when people are driven away from the polls, or encouraged to stay home it benefits them, when people are encouraged to get out and vote, it tends to benefit democrats. The Democrats don't need to cheat to win. They have every wind at their back this election because people are registering in droves. This sounds to me like a premature consolation excuse for a bunch of people who know they are bound to loose this election because their party has failed to lead. It's time for them to get out of the way and let Democracy fix things once again. It should also be pointed out that ACORN enjoys membership and support from both Democrats and Republicans alike. McCain has even spoken at events sponsored by the same group. Gregory Benson gregorybenson5@yahoo.com * * * Thank you Gregory. So true. It is interesting that the Republicans continue their hate campaign, including fear of ACORN. Consider that McCain made a keynote address at a 2006 ACORN conference in Florida, and he was all fine with that organization then. Oh well, guess that was just another senior moment. That aside, perhaps we voters should think about the code words that Palin uses in her rhetoric. She has a very good knack for getting people to say "kill him." What a potential leader, who has her own problems to deal with. Maybe it is time for McCain to do the right thing, and throw in the towel for the sake of the country. Mark Rudisill |
