The Democrats Are Camping Out - And Response (4)
posted October 14, 2008

In a move keeping with the Democratic Party philosophy of "vote early, vote often," John Bailes has stated his fellow Democrats will be camping out to vote first Wednesday. Since the party has been signing up the homeless and others, they should all be able to congregate or be bussed to the proper sites and with food in hand cast their vote well ahead of time.

My advice for any Republican choosing to vote early would be to bring a nose clip to avoid the stench of those who have been outside without bathing. Also lock down all valuables. (Not to worry, if Obama is elected, all valuables will be forcibly removed anyhow along with registered handguns)

Republican voters who might consider camping out overnight might have to miss a day at the office where we work to pay for the rest of our society to underachieve at the expense of the honest taxpayer. Is it coincidental to see the same misfits at any type of morning or afternoon rally that has to do with some type of liberal agenda? Why is it the same group? Because the rest of us are working to support these reprobates and rejects by working.

And it is official that ACORN, who had done such a magnificent job across other states registering voters (over and over and over), has been mobilized in the Chattanooga area. Apparently the agency felt as though voter fraud was down in our area. The results are already showing, with voter registrations appearing in the mailboxes of wrong households and those who are underage or with felony records being registered to vote at a record pace. Keep up the good work.

My advice to Mr. Fleetwood would be to grow up. Bashing the homeless, the Democrats, and the Democratic Presidential candidate demonstrate nothing but immaturity and ignorance. It's entirely possible to express your political views in a respectful, mature way without bashing others who believe differently than you.

I can promise you Mr. Fleetwood, you aren't the only person in Chattanooga who works for a living. I'm a Democrat, and I can promise you, I earn my paycheck, as do many others Chattanoogans, regardless of what their political positions are. Did it ever occur to you that maybe some of these people are taking time off work to camp out? Or maybe they're off days aren't on a weekend? Many people work weekends and have off days during the week. A friend of mine works for TVA, and every five weeks, he receives eight days off, due to his swing shift schedule. Would you immediately assume he was jobless if he took part in a rally on three of his eight days off? Not everyone who has the time to participate in this camp out is jobless Mr. Fleetwood. For you to imply otherwise shows how incredibly judgmental, and ignorant you are.

Everyone is entitled to their vote Mr. Fleetwood. Regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, job status, income, how many kids they do or don't have, or political stance. Perhaps you need to re-read the Constitution. It wasn't written just for certain people who make certain income every year, who believe one particular way, or are one particular skin color.

Funny, I don't recall any mention in the Bible of Jesus wearing nose clips when he ate with or gathered with the poor, homeless and sick. The tone of your letter is shocking for its unrepentant, unabashed disrespect and disregard for human life however different from your own.

Sadly for our community, you are not alone in your intolerance, chosen ignorance, and disdain for your fellow man.

Myrlene R. Marsa

Ms. Buchannon and Ms. Marsa seem to immediately jump to bashing Mr. Fleetwood with their sticks without thinking out what has been written. Ms. Marsa, a local attorney, is quick to try and pull from the Bible, but I don't remember Jesus hanging out with known terrorists and making deals with people like Tony Rezko for personal gain.

Do either of these who dare to use the word ignorant for a fellow man have the intellect to realize that it appears Mr. Fleetwood is referring to people sleeping outside all night as being the reason for they not smelling as though they have not bathed? I know when I am outside for several hours I do not smell as I do when I am inside.

Is it not great that it appears the local Democrats can dish it out, but cannot face the truth? I found the article to be mostly correct, especially when you see all the different protests in any given city. You always see the same group of people protesting during the middle of the day. Does the city have a company that specializes in providing protesters for events?

It appears that Ms. Buchannon is the one that needs to read the Constitution, especially as it pertains to everyone having a right to vote. It does not say some who commit voter fraud have the right to vote more than once.

The Obama campout Tuesday night at the Election Commision was a camera show only. They put on a nice little show for the TV9 photog - all 20-25 of them, but the Election Commission is so far off the beaten path now that no one else would have seen if TV9 hadn't been there.

At 11:50 I went to the Election Commission and the only person staying up all night was the "cheerleader man in a suit" TV9 put on the 11 p.m. newscast. Several folks along with their Obama signs were seen getting into their cars and heading off. There were two tents left on the Election Commission door steps/lawn. (They may have had occupants.) Hope they rewrite the 11 p.m. script for the morning shows.

They announced they were having a 7:45 a.m. rally before moving off Commission property onto the adjacent field. (I'm assuming some folks
would return after "wrestling" all night with their election choices and warm bed at home.) By 8 a.m. when the polls were opened they have to be off Election Commission property, according to state law.

And there you have it as Paul Harvey would say ... "the rest of the story."
