History Center Presents Fourth Nicely Tour
posted October 14, 2008

The Chattanooga History Center will present its fourth Nicely Tour at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. The walking tour, “Railroad Avenue,” is based on the section of the same name in Maury Nicely’s Chattanooga Walking Tour and Historic Guide. The fee is $3 per person, and the registration deadline is Nov. 4.

Organizers said, "This tour will take us on what was once Railroad Avenue, the site of a railroad spur which was originally intended to move goods from the river landing to the railroad yards, but was never completed. We know it today as the section of Broad Street on which the Tivoli Theatre and the Sheraton Read House are located. Guide, History Center Curator Dr. Daryl Black, will meet participants at the Sheraton Read House’s Broad Street entrance. We will return to the Read House at the end of the tour for coffee (dutch treat) and a brief run-down of the building’s history."

For more information, or to register, call 423 265-3247, ext. 10.
