Caney Fork Drowning
by Richard Simms
posted October 14, 2008

A trout fisherman drowned in the Caney Fork River near Cookeville Sunday.

Roman Grzybowski, 51, of suburban Nashville drowned near the Happy Hollow boat ramp. According to witnesses he was walking along the stream when he slipped into a deep hole.

He was wearing chest waders and was apparently unable to keep himself above water. His daughter said her dad didn't know how to swim.

Two nearby fishermen saw him go down and went to his aid. The two men pulled him from the river and said they performed CPR for nearly 20 minutes but were unable to revive him.
