Quarterback Matt Oellerich scored on a 3-yard run with 35 seconds left Friday night and host Baylor held on for a 27-23 victory over Knox Webb in a high school football game.
The victory was Baylor’s third straight and the Red Raiders ended the season at 5-5.
With five seconds left, Baylor was called for a defensive penalty. That gave Webb one more shot at winning the game, but its final pass fell incomplete.
Baylor took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on an 11-yard run by Brandon Pickett and a 48-yard pass from Oellerich to Brett Murray.
Knox Webb responded with 23 points in the second quarter and carried a 23-20 lead into intermission. Baylor got a touchdown in the second quarter on a 44-yard pass from Oellerich to Murray.
Neither team scored in the third quarter, with Oellerich’s late run deciding the outcome.
Pickett finished with 95 yards rushing on 12 carries while Baylor’s Sam Williams had 142 yards rushing on 23 carries.
Murray had five catches for 137 yards.
