The five-branch bank was purchased by First Volunteer Corporation at the end of 2007 with deposits totaling more than $87 million and 46% of the deposit market share in Polk County. T.B. Isbell Insurance Agency was also included in the purchase and became First Volunteer Insurance earlier in the year.

The Benton customers will continue to see the same smiling faces, enjoy the same great service; just with a brand new name.”
First Volunteer’s original charter, for Marion Trust and Banking, dates back to 1904. Through the years, it has purchased banks and opened branches in other counties and became First Volunteer Corporation in 1999. First Volunteer Bank has assets exceeding $650 million with 24 branch offices throughout 10 counties in Eastern and Middle Tennessee. First Volunteer Corporation, including the Insurance Agency, has 260 employees.
