Wayne was in the mood for pizza, so we drove to 1667 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road (corner of East Brainerd and Ooltewah-Ringgold roads in the new Bi-Lo Center) to visit Rosselli’s Pizzeria.

Rosselli’s is a small, order-at-the-counter restaurant and there isn’t an extensive menu. There is a bit of a wait since they make each pizza to order, so if it’s going to be carry-out I would advise you to call ahead. The place wasn’t full of customers, just a few tables occupied, but they were very busy with carry-out orders. Quite a number of people came in to pick up orders while we were there. They also have a drive-thru window (at least that’s what the menu shows; I didn’t actually see the window).

The menu consists of 12” and 16” pizzas. The 12” is $9.35 and toppings are $1.20 each, while the 16” is $10.50 and toppings are $1.65 each. They also sell pizza by the slice ($3, $.40 per topping). He ordered spicy Italian sausage, mushrooms, and several other toppings.

Since for me, pizza is a “take it or leave it”, and I wasn’t in the mood for pizza that day, I ordered the Baked Ziti ($6.99). I was looking for something without crust or bread.

Also on the Rosselli’s menu are Calzones ($6.25 - $.75 per topping), Oven Toasted Hoagies ($4.99), and Antipasto ($5.99/$7.50). There are also several salads priced from $2.25 to $5.99. For dessert - Cannoli ($2.25). They also have Italian Cheese Bread ($2.55).

Wayne said the pizza was as good as the majority of pizza restaurants (outside of his favorite), and he would order it again. They did not skimp on toppings and the mushrooms were fresh and large (not the little chopped up pieces you usually get). I thought it appeared to be greasy, but he said it wasn’t – and since he was the one eating it, he would know better than I.

The Baked Ziti was much more than I could eat. I was able to finish almost half, but that was it. I enjoyed it with pieces of Italian Sausage, homemade sauce and mozzarella (lots of mozzarella). I would definitely order it again.

In addition to the pizzas where you select the toppings, they also have Specialty Pizza Pies ($14/$17) including Rosselli’s Classic (double mozzarella, pepperoni, green olives, hot cherry peppers), the Ricotta (ricotta, feta, mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, fresh spinach, fresh garlic and basil), the Ultimate (pepperoni, ground beef, red onions, bell peppers, ripe olives, fresh mushrooms), and the Super Meat (pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, sliced meatball, and salami).

Lunch specials are served from 11:30 AM until 4:00 PM for $5.99. Rosselli’s is a nice little pizza place where you can go without having to drive through the busy areas of town.

Hours for Rosselli’s Pizzeria are 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and until 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
