Soddy-Daisy Swears In New Commissioners; Shipley Is Mayor
by Jim Ashley
posted November 7, 2008

Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Clarence Shattuck performed swearing-in ceremonies for a newly elected Soddy-Daisy commissioner and two re-elected incumbents on Thursday evening at Soddy Elementary School.

Judge Shattuck, a native of Soddy-Daisy, swore into office Shane Harmon, who defeated Patti Skates in her bid for re-election, and incumbents Jim Adams and Geno Shipley, who was chosen by the commission to replace Bob Privett as mayor.

The commission chose Mr. Privett to serve as vice mayor.

Also during the ceremony, Mr. Privett introduced or mentioned Soddy-Daisy mayors who had served since 1969.

Also present for the event was Mr. Harmon’s daughter, Amanda, a member of the U.S. Air Force.

Hamilton County School Board member Rhonda Thurman attended the ceremony as well.

At least 200 people attended the ceremony at the old but renovated auditorium at Soddy Elementary.
