Erlanger Reports A Monthly Loss For October posted November 17, 2008 Erlanger Medical Center's Britt Tabor presented the board with the October 2008 financials, reporting an income loss of $893,868 instead of the budgeted gain of $684,284. Erlanger's budget and finance committee met late Monday afternoon to review the October budget as well as discuss new expenditures. While outpatient treatment income was higher than budgeted, inpatient treatment, emergency room treatment, and helicopter transport income were all lower than budgeted in October. The board approved three proposals: a resolution authorizing the renovation of office suites for Sports Medicine Doctor W. Michael Tew; a resolution approving the renovation and equipment for the purpose of establishing a site for university health services in the University of Tennessee Family Practice Center; and a resolution authorizing a telephone switch replacement. For both the renovation of Dr Tew's suite and the renovation for the UT Family Practice Center, hospital official Roger Forgey assured the board that all costs would be recovered within five years. The telephone replacement was budgeted at 1.25 million dollars and will result in all Erlanger telephones being on one system, instead of two as they have now. Erlanger Medical Center will exclusively use Nortel telephones, replacing five outdated main switches as well as 5600 telephones. The Nortel system will also allow for later expansion. |
