Billye Mahoney Sharp, 90, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at home with family.

Born December 2, 1917 in Little Rock, Ar., she was the daughter of the late William Henry Mahoney and Elizabeth Heibach Mahoney.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Billye was a founding member of the Ladies of Charity of Chattanooga and was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Stephen, and St. Jude parishes.

As an accomplished seamstress and an astute business woman, she was widely-known in the Tennessee Valley as the owner and general manager of Associated Fabrics of Chattanooga.

Billye was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Warner Sharp and three siblings; Mary Elizabeth Gaffney of Nashville, Tn., Margie Finan, and Pat Downing of Little Rock, Ar.

She is survived by eight devoted children and their spouses, Jim Sharp (Judi) of Hixson; Bill Sharp (Sheila) of Chattanooga; Paul Sharp (Carol) of Lakeland, Fl.; Judy Sharp Miller (Michael) of Nashville, Debbie Sharp Campbell (Steve) of Cleveland, Tn.; Rick Sharp (Theresa) of Chattanooga; Mick Sharp (Joni) of Soddy-Daisy; and Philip Sharp (Cindy) of Hixson; 21 grandchildren, Bill Sharp Jr., Kimberly Sharp, David Sharp, Linda Sharp Ercin, Michael J. Miller Jr., Angie Sharp Miller, Steve Campbell Jr., Jimmy Sharp III, Micky Sharp Jr., Maggie Campbell Wallace, Katherine Miller Robinson, Jennifer Sharp Wilhoit, Elizabeth Sharp Fulcher, Jessica Sharp, Joy Sharp Joyner, Matt Campbell, Matthew Sharp, Cathy Sharp Smith, Jonathan Sharp, Thomas W. Miller, Elizabeth W. Miller; 16 great-grand-children; with numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout a wonderful life, her faith and her family and the blessings associated with them remained her constant joy and focus.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of Chattanooga and/or the Ladies of Charity.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the East Brainerd with the Rev. Steven Kelley and the Rev. Bill Sharp officiating. Interment to follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of Chattanooga and/or the Ladies of Charity.

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn.
