Seminar Features Getting Ready For Equity Training
posted November 18, 2008

SJF Advisory Services will host Getting Ready for Equity, a day-long training forum for local entrepreneurs and small business owners, on Dec. 4.

Getting Ready for Equity "will explain the equity investment process, which empowers small businesses with capital funding from investment firms, and define what investors look for in potential clients. The training event offers small business owners practical advice on the benefits and challenges of attaining equity investment and tips on how to attract capital funding," officials said.

SJF Advisory Services’ Executive Director Bonny Moellenbrock said, "Small business owners must know what investors are looking for and find ways to make connections with those investors most aligned with them. Our event will provide the basic information they need to start the process as well as connections with some of the leading investors in the Appalachian region."

Along with a keynote presentation, panel discussion and Q&A session, Getting Ready for Equity "provides a dynamic platform for attendees to network with peers and get valuable feedback from investors about their goals and funding prospects. The training will be especially beneficial for environmentally-conscious companies," it was stated.

Panelists and coaches bring expertise in business, finance, cleantech and natural products: Stephen Culp, CEO of Smart Furniture; Charles Brock of Brock Capital, LLC; Casey Hammontree, CFA of Tenth Street Capital; Rick Larson of Natural Capital Investment Fund and Grady Vanderhoofen, fund manager for Meritus Ventures.

It will be at green|spaces, 63 E. Main St. from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cost for registration is $45.
