Local Old Navy Stores Donate Nearly 100 Coats For Homeless posted November 19, 2008 Chattanooga's Old Navy stores are donating nearly 100 warm coats for the homeless to The Salvation Army. The Old Navy stores in Hamilton Place and Northgate Malls delivered the coats to the Chattanooga Salvation Army at 800 McCallie Ave. Wednesday morning. "We are thrilled to partner with Old Navy in making sure homeless individuals and families receive the emergency assistance they need in this dangerously cold weather," said Lt. Jan Robbins, of The Salvation Army's 614 Corps, which also houses the ReCreate Café, a homeless day center on McCallie Avenue. Lt. Robbins continued, "We will begin distributing the coats to the homeless at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon from the ReCreate Café on McCallie Avenue." The Salvation Army will also open its shelter again Wednesday evening to homeless families who are facing this cold weather emergency and having difficulty finding warm, safe places to stay. The colder temperatures also keeps the doors of the ReCreate Café open earlier and longer. |
