Robert Burl Brown, 90, of Red Hill Valley Road Community in Bradley County, died Tuesday afternoon at home on his farm.
He was the son of the late Robert Bruce Brown and Pearl Grigsby Brown. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Aubrey Brown, James Brown, Homer Ray Brown, and Bobby Brown; and a brother-in–law, Frank Sullivan.
He was a certified code welder. He owned and operated R.B. Brown poultry farm in the Red Hill Valley Road Community. He loved to garden, bird watch, and work. He was a member of the West Armuchee Baptist Church. He served during World War II as a Sgt. in the United States Army, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include his wife of sixty five years, Martha Gaynelle Hallum Brown of Bradley County; his children, Robert Bruce Brown and his wife Susan of Sugarland, Tx., Kenneth Dale Brown and his wife Brenda of Cleveland; grandchildren, Austen Palmer Brown of Sugarland, Tx., Kathleen Elizabeth Brown of Oxford Miss., Lacy Climer, Lindsay Climer Arnold and her husband Brandon Arnold all of Cleveland; sister, Pauline Brown of Dallas Tx.; brother, Bryant Brown of Dallas, Tx.; sisters-in-law, Johnnye Sullivan, Mildred Brown; nephew, Mark Sullivan; and niece, Deborah Sullivan.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Kevin Wilson and Reverend Herb Conley officiating. Interment will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, North Ocoee Chapel who is in charge of the arrangements. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
