Sarah Jane Snodgras, 58, died on Monday, November 17, 2008 at her home in East Ridge.
She was born in Coffeyville, Ks., on July 24, 1950, graduated from LSU, and spent her career as a computer programmer for Exxon and TVA.
Sarah was a pioneer in the early women’s rights movement and an avid gardener who worked tirelessly to support the National Wildlife Federation, improving the quality of life for the Native American Indians and several animal rescue initiatives.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph and Louise Snodgras; grandmother, Elsie Kincaid.
She is survived by her two brothers, Jeff Snodgras, of St. Amant, La., and Chris Snodgras, of Memphis, Tn.; three nieces, Kelly, Katy and Kamy Snodgras; companion, Bill Reed; and her cats, Conan, Sissy, Abby, Souix and Muffy; along with dog, Princess.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Hwy. 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
