Aerisyn Laying Off 54 Employees Due To Economy
posted November 20, 2008

Aerisyn, the Riverfront Parkway firm that builds wind towers, is laying off 54 employees due to the souring economy.

Officials pointed to a reduction of orders for the upcoming year.

They said they hope the slowdown is temporary and the workers can return.

Mike Hohl, Aerisyn CEO, said, "External factors in the global economy beyond the control of the company are impacting the orders for windows towers manufactured at our facility.

"This announcement is not a reflection on the performance of our valued employees."

Aerisyn had announced in February 2005 that it was locating in the former Combustion Engineering plant and invest $7 million.

The firm would have 75 employees initially and could employ as many as 150 people within three years, officials said at the time.
