Mr. Wheeler was a World War II veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge 114 of Harrison, Tn., and had retired from Combustion Engineer.
He was an active member and deacon of Bayside Baptist church.
He loved his family dearly and was a great sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Keith Wheeler Jr.; brother, Jim Wheeler; and sisters, Willette Spees and Peggy Burt.
Survivors include his wife, of 62 years, June Gaynell Wheeler; daughter and son-in-law, Gayla and Tipton Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Rebecca Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Amy (Jay) Still, Tammi (Kevin) Highsmith, Todd (Kristi) Wheeler, Travis (Kimberly) Wheeler, Jason (Emily) Wheeler, Aaron (Beth) Choate, Terri (Randy) Roark; nine great grandchildren, Landon Reed, Macy Wheeler, Bree Roark, Satchel Wheeler, Hayden Choate, Sydney Highsmith, Weston Roark; brother, Sam (Helen) Wheeler, of Indiana; sister, Charlotte Beecher, of Ohio, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Stitts and Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel.
