No Notice From The USPS On Closing The REC - And Response (2)
posted November 20, 2008

The story says the USPS gives as much notice as possible.

I just want you to know, we found out today, as well, by reading it online.

Thanks for the heads up, P.O.

This has been in the works for six years now; if you worked there more than three months then you have known all about it.

Good luck to you.

Is four months not enough notice? According to the news, they are not closing the REC until April, 2009. Four months is more than most companies have to give their employees they are letting go.

Be glad you got four months and not a "your last day will be Nov. 30, 2008.” In June, when the USPS decided to close REC'S in other parts of the country, we were told they may close more REC's in the upcoming months and that they were hoping Chattanooga stayed open. In other words, be glad you have a four month warning that you may not have a job, because usually, if they don't extend your contract you get two weeks.
