Anthony F. “Tony” Ringer, 49, died on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at his residence.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Ruth Young Ringer, of Bryant, Al.; brother, Laurence Sheldon O’Dell Ringer, of Bryant; grandparents, Olga and Laurence Ringer of Higdon, Al., and James and Katherine Young, of Flat Rock, Al.
Tony graduated from Trenton, Ga., High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and for many years was owner of All Transmission Specialist in Red Bank.
Tony was known to always tell jokes and give hugs to everyone he met.
His interests included anything to do with purchasing, repairing and collecting automobiles. He enjoyed spending time with friends and helping everyone in his path.
His survivors are his wife, Diana K. Ringer, of Hixson; stepdaughters, Lauren E. Davis (Andrew Hammack), of Alpharetta, Ga. and Kristy K. Underwood of Soddy-Daisy; father, Albert Ringer (stepmother, Mary Ringer), of Calhoun, Ga.; sister, Renee (Tommy) Akins, of Ringgold, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Celestia, Destiny and Cole Akins, of Ringgold.
Many thanks to Dr. Michael Ozborn and his nurse, Karen, for the many years of care and concern for Tony. Also thanks to the many wonderful friends and Trinity Hospice workers helping and spending time and giving care to Tony during his last few months and thanks to friends for a full lifetime of love.
There will not be a funeral service but there will be a Celebration of Life Party at Aris Lakeshore Restaurant, 5600 Lake Resort Terrace, Chattanooga, 423 877-7068 from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Community Kitchen, P.O. Box 11203, Chattanooga, TN 37401.
