Man Seriously Injured In Stabbing On Dodson Avenue Officers Were Outside When Fight Broke Out posted November 21, 2008 Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department are looking into a stabbing Thursday night at 2802 Dodson Ave. that left a man in serious condition. According to officers on the scene, Martin Sims, brother-in-law to Jeff Dunton, stabbed Dunton repeatedly following an argument over a theft that occurred at the residence. Officers were outside the residence finishing the theft report when the altercation broke out. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries during the assault and was taken to Erlanger Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for stab wounds to the kidney area, shoulder, arms and neck. Dunton’s current condition is serious. Sims was immediately taken into custody and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. He is currently at the Hamilton County Jail. |
