Channel 3’s Share Your Christmas Is Dec. 10
posted November 21, 2008

WRCB Channel 3 will once again team up with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank for the 24th Annual Share Your Christmas food drive. It will be Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Officials said, "Drop off locations in Chattanooga, Dalton and Cleveland make it even more convenient for the generous people who give non-perishable food items or cash donations. The food collected at those drop off points stays in that area to benefit the people of that community."

From 5 a.m-6 p.m., Channel 3 will be accepting donations for the Food Bank. Stop by any of the three locations and visit with Channel 3 Eyewitness News anchors.

Donations will be accepted in Cleveland at Life Care Center’s Campbell Campus at 3001 Keith St. NW, in Dalton stop by the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center at 2211 Dug Gap Battle Road, just off Walnut Avenue. In Chattanooga the drop off location will once again be at the First Tennessee Pavilion.

Officials stated, "We encourage local businesses to start their own food drives, no matter the size of your company, and bring by the collected donations on Dec. 10.

"Stop by any of our locations with your donation, even just one can or a few dollars will make a major difference to the Food Bank, and you don’t even have to get out of your car."

Food collected in Dalton and Cleveland will go to agencies serving the people of those areas.

If you can’t make it to Share Your Christmas, all area Publix, Bi-Lo and Food Lions will be accepting donations of non-perishable items, as will Greenlife Grocery and the Soddy Daisy Wal-Mart. Food will be accepted there from the beginning of November through Dec. 31.

You can also donate the weekend before at the East Brainerd Share Your Christmas Drive being held Dec. 5-7 at the East Brainerd Bi-Lo

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank serves 390 agencies in 22 counties in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, serving an estimated 14,000 people each week. Their programs include emergency food assistance for families in need, hunger awareness programs and Kids Café.

Non-perishable food items or cash donations directly help the members of the community who would otherwise go hungry, it was stated.
