City Pharmacy Opens Dec. 16
posted December 2, 2008

A pharmacy for city of Chattanooga employees opens Dec. 16, though the official grand opening will not be until Jan. 5.

Donna Kelley, city personnel director, said employee meetings detailing the change began Monday.

The pharmacy will operate from the same building as the city health clinic near City Hall.

It will have a separate entrance off King Street.

Ms. Kelley said it is still projected that the move to a city pharmacy will save the city millions of dollars over several years.

Jeff Claxton, city risk manager, said co-pays for city employees will drop significantly.

He said the new rates are $2 for generic, $15 for preferred and $40 for non-preferred.

The pharmacy will be operated by Benefit Advocates through a contract with the city.
