The Soddy-Daisy girls basketball team won in the final seconds Tuesday night beating Hamilton Heights 45-43.
The visiting Hamilton Heights team got out to an early lead by holding the Lady Trojans of Soddy-Daisy to just six points in the first quarter.
The Lady Trojans fought back with a key defensive change suggested by assistant coach Jr. Johnson holding the visitors to six points in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 15-18 at the half.
The Lady Trojans went on a 18-9 run in the third quarter led by big shots from senior Kristen Vandergriff. Leigh Phillips and Emily Ricketts also had some big rebounds in this quarter.
The crew from Hamilton Heights came roaring back with inside play from Jordan Wolcott and big outside shots from guard Marianna Antonelli.
The biggest shot of the night came from senior Ashlee England with 3 seconds left with an assists from sophomore McKenzie Bolton. England's shot gave Soddy-Daisy a 45-43 lead.
Hamilton Heights had the presence of mind to get a time out and call a play for their go to player Raven Hunt, who got a good look that hit the rim with the buzzer going off.
