Wilson Pleads Guilty In Child Sex Case
posted December 3, 2008

Edgar W. Wilson entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault on Tuesday in a case in which he was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child between the ages of 8-12 years.

Wilson, 63, faced 3-6 years. He was given a suspended sentence under supervised probation.

Prosecutor Leslie Longshore said the incident happened Sept. 17 or 18, 2005.

She said police began investigating the case after being contacted by a worker for the state Department of Children's Services.

Ms. Longshore said a girl under the age of 13 went with her grandfather and brother to help her uncle, whose vehicle had broken down.

She said Wilson was with the uncle when they arrived. She said while they were along the side of the road dealing with the broken-down vehicle, Wilson squeezed the girl's breasts and buttocks.

Wilson, a retired ironworker who is on disability, appeared before Criminal Court Judge Don Poole.

The case had been set to go to trial on Tuesday, and Ms. Longshore said the girl was willing to testify.
