I was one of the fortunate ones to attend the Friday night performance of the wonderful holiday tradition, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at The Chattanooga Theatre Centre.
The Centre's new Production Director George Quick adapted and directed this play for our local stage. The performance started early so we could see the Christmas boat parade on the river during intermission. We all went on the Centre's lawn and watched the boats and went back in to see Act II.
After the performance we had the option to see the fireworks. This will surly be a holiday tradition for my family next year!
It was fantastic. The performance has many talented actors, the costumes were fabulous thanks to Scott Dunlap, Ken Barnett did an awesome job on the set as always, and the special effects were great! Truly an outstanding production.
From the moment he arrived here from California, Mr. Quick has been researching our community to see what will work best for our local theater. It appears he is wanting to serve Chattanooga with the best. We will definitely benefit from the direction he is taking The Theatre Centre.
If you haven't been to a performance at The Theatre Centre, please consider going to see A Christmas Carol. You won't be disappointed. If future productions are as promising as this, we are in for a theatrical treat. The show runs through Dec. 19.
During our nation's difficult economic situation, we need to remember to support the arts in Chattanooga. I can remember a day when Chattanooga had very few options for artistic creativity.
