Penney, Agnes Purvis

Agnes Purvis Penney, 88, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at her home.

She was a born in Montgomery, grew up in Birmingham, Al., before becoming a graduate of Bowling Green College of Commerce, Bowling Green, Ky.

She was retired from TVA and had been an active member of the 1st Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., for the past 30 years.

Mrs. Penney was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Agnes Purvis, and two brothers, Robert and William.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ottis D. Penney; son, Charles T. (Sherry) Penney; grandchildren, Amanda B. Sherrill, Tommy (Donna) Penney; five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Sherrill, Hannah Sherrill, McKayla Sherrill, Aubrey Penney, and Tanner Penney.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Interment is in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, at the North Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 800 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.

Arrangements are made by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
