The Bradley County Sheriff's Office arrested Tammy A. Land on Tuesday in an investigation involving the theft of checks from a residence on Treemont Circle.

Ms. Land knows the victim of the theft and had access to her residence, authorities said.

During a visit, Ms. Land is accused of taking numerous checks. Thirty-four were cashed at locations in the area from August to November. Coupled with purchases that were made over the phone, the loss is placed at $7,715.

Investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division revealed checks the suspect did not cash were destroyed.

Ms. Land, 48, of Gold Point Drive, was charged with one count of theft, $1,000 to $10,000, and 34 counts of forgery.
