La Paz de Dios' annual Christmas luncheon this year will celebrate not only the holiday season, but also a new partnership with this year's event sponsor: Volkswagen Group.
La Paz will host partner organizations, Volkswagen representatives, and city officials on Monday, Dec. 8, at 12 p.m., at the St. Andrews Center at 1918 Union Avenue in Highland Park for a celebration dubbed "Sabor de Navidad" (Taste of Christmas).
Live entertainment and authentic Hispanic Christmas cuisine are among the highlights of the activities. Proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the work of La Paz de Dios in the community.
La Paz de Dios is a social service organization bridging the diverse Latino community to local and regional community resources. La Paz is the primary Latino contact in Chattanooga.
"La Paz has been growing both in terms of individuals served and personnel employed," said Stacy Johnson, director of the organization. "We want to take the occasion of the holiday season to open our doors and give people the opportunity to learn more about what we do."
The luncheon also marks the beginning of a relationship with the newest commercial enterprise in town. Volkswagen Group's sponsorship will help to pay for the event and facilitate the promotion of the mission of La Paz.
"An integral component of Volkswagen's relationship with Chattanooga is the building and strengthening of bonds with the greater community," said Jill Bratina, director of Corporate Communications for Volkswagen Group of America. "La Paz is the one of the foremost links to the Latino community, so it's only natural to show support for the important work it does."
