Mountain Music Folk School Workshop, Student Appreciation Day Is Jan. 17 posted January 6, 2009 Mountain Music Folk School is holding its first annual Traditional Music Workshop and Student Appreciation day on Jan. 17 at the Barking legs Theatre on Dodds Avenue. The workshop is open to anyone in the community, and it will focus on traditional folk/Appalachian music in ensemble settings. It runs from 12:30-2 p.m., and there is no charge. Instruments include fiddle, uke, clawhammer banjo, dulcimer, guitar, and upright bass. A student appreciation party will be held immediately after the workshop, from 2-4 p.m., and it's covered-dish. Any current or former Mountain Music student is welcome. The workshop and diner will be hosted by Mountain Music Instructors Matt Evans, Christie Burns, and John Boulware. Reservations are requested. Call Steve Daugherty at Mountain Music 875-5250 for more information and reservations. The workshop will kick off the new season for the Mountain Music Folk School Ensemble Classes. |
