Man Who Made Hooters Bet Facing Disorderly Conduct Charge posted January 12, 2009 A man who was rescued from the flooded South Chickamauga Creek after he could not complete a bet he made with a friend has been charged with disorderly conduct. Hunter Chambers is facing the charge brought by Chattanooga Police. According to Fire Department spokesperson Bruce Garner, two guys were at Hooters on Brainerd Road when they made a bet for $50 that one of them could swim across the creek. Onlookers came outside to watch as the man attempted to swim across. Mr. Garner said after the swimmer got going, he realized he could not make it. He held on to a bridge pylon as someone on the bank called 911. Chattanooga Firefighters responded and dropped a rescue ring and flotation device to the man. He held on to it and the rope as firefighters pulled him to shore. Officials said EMS treated the man on the scene and he later went triumphantly back into Hooters. |
