Love and Satire: An Evening With Tom Neilson Set At Universalist Church

Love and Satire: An Evening with Tom Neilson will be Feb. 14 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga.

Called the Jon Stewart of folk music, songwriter and satirist Neilson will have you laughing hard about the foibles of love and non-love amidst our everyday struggles in life.

Neilson knows something about struggles. He has a long history of protest and activism from the 60s to now. Presently he is music coordinator for a labor group Jobs with Justice. Four of his songs have been used in environment documentaries and he has been active with coal mining, war, nuclear, and water supply issues.

Some of Neilson's influences are Tom Paxton, Woody Guthrie, David Rovics, Phil Ochs, Martha McClune, Jon Prine, Mark Russell, and Tom Lehrer.

The cost is $10/person or $50 for a table of four which includes special seating plus complimentary chocolates and beverages.

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the church at 3224 Navajo Dr.
