Mr. Meek was a leader in the local bicycle community.
Jeffrey S. Schaarschmidt, local SORBA president, said the family had requested that bicycles be part of the funeral procession.
The funeral procession left the J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home at 747 McCallie Ave. at 10:15 a.m.
Those wishing to ride met at the funeral home around 10 a.m.
Mr. Meek was a son of the late James Shirley Meek.
He was the owner of Tennessee Tool and Machine Works and Privateer Bicycles. He was a member of Chattanooga Bicycle Club, Scenic City Velo and Red Bank United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Wise Meek, of Chattanooga; one daughter, Holley Meek, of Chattanooga, and one son, Mitchell Meek, of Chattanooga; mother, Eleanor S. Meek, of Fairfield Glade, Tn.; his mother-in-law, Lettie Wise; two brothers, James Shirley (Angela) Meek Jr., of Texas, and John (Joy) H. Meek, of Hixson; one sister, Margaret (Tom) Taylor, of Atlanta; two nieces and a nephew.
The family requests no flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to McCallie School, 500 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404 for the Joe Restaino Fund, a bone research fund.
