Architect Approved For New Red Bank Middle School, But Site Still Unsettled
posted April 15, 2009

The County Commission on Wednesday approved paying the firm of TWH Architects up to $1,458,269 to draw up plans for the new Red Bank Middle School.

However, a site for the school has still not been determined.

Architect Vance Travis said he hopes a site will be decided within the next few weeks.

He said, "We can proceed with programing and conceptual design but not much further without a committed site. "

The tentative schedule based on receiving a signed contract this month is 8-10 months for design, two months to bid, and 18-20 months for construction, he said.

All of the dates assumes a specific site is selected within the next few weeks.

Some have wanted to put the new school on the old BiLo site on Dayton Boulevard and others next to the high school on Morrison Springs Road.

It is up to the school board to make the decision.
