Train Service Returns To The Chattanooga Choo Choo

In honor of the 100-year celebration of Terminal Station, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum will be operating The Downtown Arrow train service between Grand Junction Depot and the Chattanooga Choo Choo, Saturdays May 16, 30, June 6, 20, July 4, 18, Aug 1, 15, 29, and Sept 5.

Saturday, May 16, will feature the queen of the fleet - steam engine #610 running the first Downtown Arrow for the 2009 season.

Officials said, "Plan now to board a comfortable train, sit back and enjoy the sixteen mile roundtrip between the Chattanooga Choo Choo and Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum’s Grand Junction Station."

There are two options for riding the 2009 Downtown Arrow:

Option #1
Round Trip from Grand Junction Station at 4119 Cromwell Road (with 3 hour, 25 minute Choo Choo layover):
DEPART Grand Junction at 11:10 a.m.
ARRIVE Choo Choo 12:10 p.m.
DEPART Choo Choo 3:35 p.m.
ARRIVE Grand Junction 4:25 p.m.

When passengers arrive at the Choo Choo, they will have several options for dining: The Gardens’ Restaurant, The Café Espresso, and the Silver Diner Pizza Car. Open for shopping and browsing will be seven unique retail shops, including the Sweet Stop Ice Cream & Candy Shoppe.

Guests can also take a tour around the property on a vintage 1924 New Orleans Trolley, and they can visit the Model Railroad Museum, one of the largest in the country.

Option #2
Round Trip from Choo Choo (with 1 hour, 10-minute Grand Junction layover):
DEPART Choo Choo 12:20 p.m.
ARRIVE Grand Junction 1:10 p.m.
DEPART Grand Junction 2:20 p.m.
ARRIVE Choo Choo 3:20 p.m.

When passengers arrive options include: perusing Grand Junction Depot gift shop, grabbing a bite in the Depot Deli or wandering through our display area filled with gleaming exhibits from railroading’s golden age.

The Choo Choo will also be offering special Downtown Arrow Packages, featuring accommodations, tickets for the train ride, restaurant credit and more.

Adults $20
Children 3-12 $15
