Because of the catastrophically windy and unusual raininess of the spring, installation of the sculpture was delayed for over a month. Not only was the rain a problem, but the entire city maintenance department was working overtime clearing trees from roads and storm sewers.
The sculpture is “Aspiration”. Steel plate and metal rod are installed on concrete bases. As it is landscaped, the surrounding lot will become a part of the sculpture.
The sculpture is located alongside Highway 11 just north of downtown Trenton.
The artist is a resident of Dade County, Ga.
The process of converting an idea into a physical object involved the harnessing of various willing energies... like horses pulling a wagon.. maintained through all the delays.
The process was a combination of energies by the Trenton Arts Council and National Boiler Services. The metal workers at National Boiler services gave hours cutting and welding the metal plate. The metal was donated by National Boiler Services. The installation of the sculpture was engineered by National Boiler Services.
The land where the sculpture is installed was provided by the city of Trenton.
Significantly contributing were D&B Custom Powder Coating who colored the metal sculpture, with colored powder contributed by Tiger Drylac Powder Coating and Dupont Powder Coating.
Sequatchie Concrete Services, in conjunction with the Trenton maintenance crew, were essential to the process of digging the holes and constructing the forms for the concrete bases.

Funding for the project was provided by Georgia Grassroots Arts Projects and the City of Trenton, through the Trenton Arts Council.
The sculpture claims a piece of land for art rather than a monument celebrating an event. Aspiration celebrates an energy of a city working in unison as well as celebrating itself. The land where the sculpture has been installed is marked with a plaque describing an historically important iron works that had been at that location. The sculpture extends that history into this next use of the land.
After the landscaping has been initiated, within a few weeks, there will be a dedication
ceremony and a reception sponsored by the Trenton Arts Council.
