City To Pave 6 Roads With Stimulus Funds; New Road Set To Collegedale

The city of Chattanooga plans to pave six roads with over $3 million in federal stimulus funds.

Stimulus funds will also be used for $900,000 in upgrades to downtown signal lights and $500,000 in work on the extension of the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway.

Also, the city is cooperating with the state on a new road from I-75 to Collegedale.

The road will start at the new exit for the Enterprise South Industrial Park and proceed toward Little Debbie Parkway and Apison Pike.

It will also connect with the city's new softball complex at Summit and will aid deliveries by McKee Bakery of Collegedale, it was stated.

The paving projects with the projected costs (which do not include some items that the city will be required to pay) are:

Hickory Valley Road from Shallowford Road to Bonny Oaks Drive $325,500

Vance Road from East Brainerd Road to Lee Highway and on to Shepherd Road; Airport Road from Shepherd Road to Shallowford Road; Airport Connector Road from Shepherd Road to Airport Road, and Shepherd Road from Highway 153 to Airport Road. $702,170

Norcross Road from Forest Highland Drive to Gadd Road, and Altamont Road from Hixson Pike to Memorial Drive $412,003

Barton Avenue from Frazier Avenue to Hixson Pike $99.470

Amnicola Highway from Riverfront Parkway to the South Chickamauga Creek bridge $370,125

Boy Scout Road from Highway 153 to the city limits, and Dayton Boulevard from the city limits to Highway 153 $626,115
