Lake Winnie has been bringing top-shelf country performers to it's small, outdoor stage for years. I was fortunate enough to catch John Anderson's afternoon show there last Sunday (Jun 28).
I wasn't really expecting much since I've seen so many cases of "don't cares" from acts with as much name recognition as Mr. Anderson. I was getting ready for a ho-hum performance from a few second rate side men backing up a dose of arrogant condescension from a 'star'.
Boy was I shocked. Mr. Anderson was definitely "on". His voice had that beautiful trademark overtone and was perfectly on key and on time. The musicians were all studio grade. (The fiddler was a great show by himself)
The set was tight and very precisely executed. The sound man kept the mixing board sliders perfectly under control. Everybody on stage looked like they were having the time of their life. The quality of the overall experience was absolutely first-class.
Thank you, Mr. Anderson, for caring enough about your craft and your fans to put on a performance fit for Carnegie Hall on that small Lake Winnie stage on a very hot and muggy June afternoon.

I was not able to make this show this past Sunday. I heard it was great. I have seen John several times over the past few years with Big and Rich and a few by himself. He has been incredible every time that I have seen him. I am glad that Lake Winnie was able to get a great show.
