Raymond Thompson, 74, of Chattanooga was born on August 22, 1934, and died on June 30, 2009.
As a member of the Church of Jesus, he was baptized and ordained a deacon under the leadership of the late General Overseer, Mrs. Helena Billups (Mother Five) and ministered to by Pastor Sims Bledsoe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Thompson; parents, Arthur and Josephine Hall Thompson.
He is survived by his children, David Thompson, Mary (Owen) Smith, Ed (Cheryl) Paris, Philip Taylor, Claudia (Clyde) Taylor, Ronnie (Renee) Thompson, Ricky Thompson, Kenneth (Marva) Paris; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby (Jeremiah) Lindo; sister-in-law, Barnette (Dave) Thompson; brothers, Marvin (Liz) Thompson, Robert (Charlene); a host of other realtvies and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Pastor Sims Bledsoe officiating.
The body will lie in state on Monday after noon at the funeral home.
