Chattanooga FC Provides Shuttle To Riverfront After Saturday Night Game posted July 2, 2009 Chattanooga Football Club will take on Pumas FC in an effort to secure their third win. The contest on Saturday night is the final game for the semi-pro soccer team and Chattanooga FC is hoping to have a record crowd of 5,000. In their previous meeting, last week, Pumas FC (2-3) won by a score of 3-0. The game was well played on both sides. Chattanooga FC (2-3-1), currently tied for second in the conference, had some great chances to equalize the game, but struggled to score. hattanooga Head Coach Brian Crossman said, “Overall, I thought we played really well. We just need to work on our finishing.” According to the National Premier Soccer League’s website, Chattanooga FC has the largest fan base. Averaging around 1,500 fans per match, even the club’s organizers have been surprised. “Before the season began, we were hoping to get 500 fans a game, so this has just been incredible for the both the players and team organizers,” said Sheldon Grizzle, one of the club’s founding committee members and players. “We are really encouraging fans to bring out as many noise making devices as possible...drums, horns, shakers. Whatever can make it louder.” The game will be played at Finley Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets for adults are $5 and kids are $3. The team will be offering a shuttle from Finley Stadium to the Riverfront to watch the fireworks. The three shuttles will be running back and forth at 15-minute intervals from 8:30 p.m. until midnight. The cost is $1 per person. Chattanooga FC festivities on July 4th will begin at 9 a.m. at the Stadium Club at Finley Stadium with Steve Gill, a nationally syndicated radio host who airs locally on 95.3 WPLZ. He will be broadcasting live from the stadium and encourages fans and supporters to come down and enjoy the show until noon. From 2-5 p.m., DJ Alfredo Espinoza from Que Buen Rollo (101.9) will also be broadcasting live at the pavilion. This event will have free giveaways of Chattanooga FC gear and tickets throughout the afternoon. |
