He was born May 16, 1926 in Rome, Ga., to the late Hazel and Bonnie Frank "B.F." Reed Sr.
Mr. Reed was a member of New Haven Baptist Church and the Auditorium Sunday School Class. He was a United States World War II Navy veteran.
He retired from Dupont after 30 years of service. He was a member of Dupont’s Men’s Fastpitch Softball Team and was well-known for his defensive play at second base.
His brother, Eugene Reed preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Reed; children, Frank Reed III and his wife Denise; Bobby Reed and his wife Pam, all of Ooltewah; Cheryl Ridge and her husband Bill of Knoxville; stepchildren, Thomas Cowart and his wife, Melanie of Hixson; Tammy Carter and her husband, Jerry of Navarre, Fl.; sisters, Elizabeth Davis of Ft. Oglethorpe; Mary Ann Prichard and her husband James of Hixson; Carol Brooks of Nashville; Nancy Coleman and her husband, Danny of Hixson; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 5, at 2 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Rev. Bill Broom officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
The family will receive friends on Friday and Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
