Los MaGuey Mexican Restaurant is at 6977 Nashville St. in Ringgold.
We recently spotted Los MaGuey Mexican Restaurant while driving toward Ringgold, located in a small strip center (next to the large drive-up ice machine) at 6977 Nashville Street.

Upon entering, we were immediately given a friendly welcome and shown to a booth. There is a small bar in the area between the two open rooms. The restaurant has a very clean appearance.

Regarding the name Los MaGuey, according to the menu, “the MaGuey plant originates in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. It takes 5 years for the plant to mature. The plant is then cut and the bowl or Agave is used to produce Tequila.”

The menu is quite large offering almost anything you could imagine – there is even one section that offers half orders (a very good idea).

I ordered a small serving of queso and Wayne ordered the hotter salsa. He really liked their salsa, saying the taste was a bit different from others he has been served and he definitely recommends it. The queso was a bit thicker than most and actually stayed on the chips!

Wayne ordered the Burrito Jumbo ($7.75), a super sized burrito packed with grilled beef (or chicken), rice, beans, lettuce and sour cream. He said he enjoyed the taste, and I will say it was stuffed full. One of the reasons I never have liked burritos is that most places give you this HUGE wrapping with very little substance on the inside; that wasn’t the case here. It was covered with a queso.

I ordered the MaGuey Seafood ($9.95); grilled talipia filet and shrimp, served with rice and salad. The tilapia and shrimp were delicious and not dry. The rice was not as dry as I’ve been served, but not the best either, while the salad was fresh, topped with guacamole and pico de gallo.

Our server “twisted our arm” and we ordered the fried ice cream ($3.75) - absolutely delicious. I was expecting honey as most places drizzle that over the top, but here they used chocolate – and the ice cream was strawberry which was new for me (most places use vanilla). There are quite a few other desserts such as flan, fruit chimichangas and sopapillas – prices range from $1.75 to $3.75.

I noticed on the back of the menu there is a description of the items so you know exactly what you might be ordering in the event you may not be familiar with certain items.

Los MaGuey does serve beer, wines and mixed drinks.

A nice little out-of-the-way restaurant that I think you might enjoy.

Hours for Los MaGuey Mexican Restaurant are Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday, until 10:30 PM; and Sunday until 9:00 PM.
