A ribbon cutting to celebrate the beginning of PrairiePass, a new residential community, is scheduled on Friday at 2 p.m. at the community entrance at 1029 East Brainerd Road in the Apison/Collegedale area.

The celebration is hosted by Darlene Brown, Gina Sakich and Belinda Winslett of Real Estate Partners Chattanooga, the exclusive real estate company for the new community.

The ribbon cutting will bring together local elected and Chamber officials, developers Ed and James Stephens of J&E Developers, Inc, and Allen Headrick, Headrick Construction, Inc and David and Janice Poma, Timber Ridge Building, LLC, founding members of the PrairiePass Builders' Team. Cutting the official ribbon will be Kristin, Jason and Landry Grace Foster, who will be the first residents of Prairie Pass.

Zoned for Apison Elementary and the new Hamilton East Middle/High School, Prairie Pass is an architecturally planned community that artfully melds Craftsman, Prairie and Lodge home designs, officials said.

Homes will be priced from $227,000 to $475,000 and consist of lakeside bungalows, single family homes and small luxury homes.

The community will feature an architecturally designed entrance, community clubhouse with pool, small lake, pergola, sidewalks, street lamps and walking trails. There are 108 homesites on 33 acres in the current and initial phase. Future development and additional community phases and amenities will be introduced on an adjacent 133-acre tract.

Ms. Sakich said, "Prairie Pass is architecturally unique and this master planned community will bring a fresh, new lifestyle to our region. With its ideal location and zoning for Apison Elementary and the new highly respected Hamilton East Middle/High School, interest in PrairiePass has been very strong.

"Diverse in design and price point with quaint lakeside bungalows, exquisite small luxury homes and beautiful single family homes, PrairiePass will fill a niche in our area's real estate market.

"The PrairiePass lifestyle statement is the best is yet to be and we at Real Estate Partners do strongly believe the best is yet to be with the realization of this vibrant new neighborhood."

Ms. Sakich noted that anyone who purchases a homesite which includes a commitment to build a primary residence may enroll his or her child in Apison Elementary or Hamilton East Middle/High School in the fall.
