VW To Expand Size Of Chattanooga Assembly Plant posted August 28, 2009 Volkswagen officials said Friday it has been decided to expand the size of the assembly building at the new facility now under construction at the Enterprise South Industrial Park. Frank Fischer, chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations, said an additional 43,000 square feet is being added to the building. He said that step is being taken in case VW decides at some point to build more than the 150,000 vehicles per year that are initially planned. The plant is set to go into operation in early 2011. |
