Ruritan Car Show To Benefit Community
posted August 31, 2009

Antique, collector cars, trucks and
motorcycles from the Chattanooga region and beyond will roll into the Tennessee Riverpark for East Hamilton Ruritan’s Open Car Show on Labor Day weekend on Saturday.

The event is the club’s largest fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting various projects in our community.

Organizers said, "Enjoy this unique venue with family and friends from work or church. Admission for
spectators is free. Plan to picnic as fresh-ground Angus burgers, boneless chicken filets and all-beef hotdogs will be served hot-off-the-grill and freshly squeezed lemonade is made before your eyes!"

Car Clubs and individuals are encouraged to enter. Registration is $25 and will begin at 8 a.m. Judging begins at noon. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. in each of 20
different classes up to 2010 models.

Specialty trophies for Best of Show, Paint, Interior, Engine, Use of Color, Most Unique and Kleanest of Kleen will be awarded.

The East Hamilton Ruritan Club is a local service organization whose purpose is to make our community a better place to live and work.

Nationally, the club has nearly
34,000 members which work to improve more than 1,200 local communities; however, Ruritan rarely has national programs. Rather, each club surveys its own community as to the needs of that community and then works to meet some of those needs.

Projects in Hamilton County for 2009 include college and leadership training scholarships, Good Citizenship Awards through area middle schools, language arts classroom libraries for East Hamilton Middle/High School, recreational resources for The Lantern Alzheimer’s
Unit, the Forgotten Child Fund and others.
